MONOLITH
02 / The material palette

Beautiful today.
Considered for tomorrow.

Water changes every colour it touches. Choose materials together, in real daylight, with wet samples as well as dry ones.

01

Travertine
& limestone

Warm, quiet stone makes the transition from house to water feel natural. Finish, porosity and the actual stone source matter as much as colour.

Ask about: wet slip resistance, heat underfoot, sealing, salt exposure and replacement availability. Specify tested exterior products, not appearance alone.

02

Timber
& shade

A slatted pergola creates shifting light without turning the garden into an enclosed room. Timber tones soften the mineral palette.

Ask about: durability class, fixings near treated pool water, coating cycles and whether you prefer natural weathering or retained colour. Shade patterns should be checked seasonally.

03

Waterline
& vessel

Petrol-blue and muted green finishes can create depth without the visual weight of a black pool. Water depth, sky and lighting all affect the result.

Ask about: grout, cleaning access, chemical compatibility, underwater lighting and a sample viewed beneath water. Screen colours are not a finish specification.

04

Bronze tones
& soft layers

Dark metal details keep the architecture precise. Outdoor upholstery and layered foliage make it comfortable.

Ask about: corrosion suitability, galvanic separation, cushion drainage and storage. Choose planting around root behaviour, leaf litter and local water needs.
