A long, low home that turns its back to the road and opens completely to the Cascades.

Challenge: A steep wind-exposed bench, 65 psf snow load, and a protected juniper grove. Outcome: Three stepped concrete terraces hold the slope while a deep south overhang balances winter gain and summer shade.

A sheltered courtyard makes an outdoor room inside a landscape of lava and wind.

Challenge: Preserve five specimen pines and meet a strict wildfire overlay. Outcome: Noncombustible concrete walls, Class A roofing, ember-resistant vents, and an irrigated stone court create protection without feeling defensive.

Challenge: A narrow lot, close neighbors, and a mature street tree. Outcome: North-facing roof monitors bring even light deep into the plan while the ground floor opens to a compact, private garden.
